There are predictable changes to our faces over time that go more than skin deep. Our facial fat pads decrease in size and move downwards, bone resorbs leading to hollowing and changes in structure, and the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in our skin slows. These elements form the foundation of a hydrated, firm, and structured appearance; so as they are affected by age-related changes you may notice lines, wrinkles, or a decrease in volume or fullness. Each type of injectable has a specific goal or concern it addresses, and our multi-modal approach to these treatments ensures that you will have natural results. Injectable treatments can be preventative, or in response to a specific concern.

Types of injectable treatments:

  • Injectable treatments can effectively treat your lips, eye area, face, neck, and hands.
  • Neuromodulators: Smooth and prevent lines, folds, and wrinkles.
  • Dermal fillers: Restore volume, add fullness, and sculpt features.
  • Hydration boosters: Deliver long-lasting skin hydration.

Injectable treatments we offer include:

  • Neuromodulators like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, XEOMIN®
  • Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers like Restylane®, BELOTERO®, and Revanesse®
  • Non-HA ‘biostimulator’ dermal fillers like RADIESSE® and Sculptra®
  • Hydration boosters like Juvéderm® Volite and Restylane® Skinboosters

Neuromodulators are a tried and true class of injectable treatments that precisely smooth or prevent lines while retaining the warmth of your natural expressions. They work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause folds and wrinkles in aging skin. Injectables in this category can be used before wrinkles form to prevent future lines and wrinkles, or as a response to those that already exist—to soften those lines between your eyes when you furrow your brow, the crow’s feet around your eyes, or the horizontal lines on your forehead. Neuromodulators can also be used therapeutically to treat jaw clenching (bruxism), migraines, excess sweating (hyperhidrosis), and more. Neuromodulator results last for three to five months in most patients.

Dermal fillers comprised of hyaluronic acid are designed to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, and improve the overall texture and contour of the skin. They work by physically filling in areas of the skin that have lost volume or elasticity, using hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural sugar molecule found in the body. HA fillers are most commonly used to treat areas such as the cheeks, lips, tear troughs (depressions in the under-eye area), temples, and nasolabial folds. That said, HA fillers can be used almost anywhere by experienced providers, including for non-surgical rhinoplasty (nose jobs), ear lobes where piercings have stretched, and even the back of hands to provide a youthful and rejuvenated appearance. The results can last for several months to a year or more, depending on the type of filler used.

Biostimulators work primarily to improve both volume loss and skin integrity by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. They use calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid to encourage the growth of new collagen fibres in the skin. Biostimulators are often used to treat larger areas of the face that have lost elasticity due to aging or other factors, such as the cheeks, mouth brackets, or temples, and can create a lifting effect around the jawline, jowls and brow. Unlike hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers, biostimulators may take several weeks or months to produce noticeable results, as the body’s natural collagen production is stimulated over time. However, the results can be longer-lasting than dermal fillers, lasting up to two years or more in some cases.

Hydration boosters deliver plumper skin from deep within. These injectable elixirs are designed solely for long-lasting hydration and nourishment…whether or not you get those 8 glasses a day. Hydration boosters are similar to dermal fillers in that they are hyaluronic acid based, but rather than targeting and adding volume in specific areas, hydration boosters are designed for all-over facial application to give you a subtle, long-lasting boost in hydration, elasticity, and radiance.

Deoxycholic acid (DCA), also known as Belkyra® or Kybella®, is a fat dissolving enzyme that can target excess fat in the submental (under-chin) area, breaking down fat cells and creating a smoother jawline and more defined profile. With discretion, it can also be used for stubborn pockets of fat in other places on the body that are not responsive to diet and exercise, such as banana rolls, bra rolls, elbow/knee pockets, love handles, and more. DCA usually requires three to six treatments for optimal results, spaced four to six weeks apart. Once the final result is achieved, it is permanent.

What will my injectable experience be like?

Your injectable experience will begin with a comprehensive consultation during which an experienced, qualified provider will answer your questions, review your aesthetic goals, and explore injectable solutions with you. Your individual treatment plan will then be curated by Dr. Bri, Dr. Matt, and their team of experts. Most injectable appointments take 20-60 minutes. Typical side effects of injectable treatments can include mild swelling, bruising, and sensitive skin. You will discuss these with your practitioner during your consultation and treatment. A skilled, qualified practitioner knows how to honour the nuances of your facial symmetry and the natural lines of your face to achieve a beautiful result. We’re passionate about injectable treatments that allow you to look like your best self, with results that highlight your existing beauty.
